The BA Takes Part in “Write and Tell” Exhibition

In celebration of the bicentenary of the decipherment of the ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs by Jean-François Champollion, the Institut français d'Egypte (IFE) is collaborating with the BA Art Collections and Exhibitions Department to hold an exhibition entitled "Ecrire et conter" (Write and Tell), which celebrates all forms of writing. The exhibition takes place from 9 October to 15 November 2022.

The BA takes part in this exhibition through an artistic contribution represented in the display of some of its art collections and their reproductions. It also helped develop the artistic vision of the exhibition, through the Visual Arts team of its Art Collections and Exhibitions Department.

The concept of the exhibition is based on how artists exploit letters and symbols in order to establish a connection between languages and shapes – a method that has been used by humans throughout the ages – and how these shapes can be transformed into an absolute form of artistic narrative.

The exhibition "Ecrire et conter" (Write and Tell) will open on Sunday, 9 October, at 6:00 pm at the Institut français d'Egypte (IFE) and the Institut français d'archéologie orientale (IFAO) in Cairo.
