The Egyptian team, affiliated to the BA Planetarium Science Center (PSC), took part in the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), held this year in Texas, USA, from 13 to 19 May 2023.

The Egyptian team won several special awards, as students Shahd Nouh and Sama Nouh, from Sharqia STEM School, both received an award in the field of behavioral sciences from the American Psychological Association (APA), in addition to a scholarship from the University of Arizona, USA, for the project “Developing Communication in Autistic Children Using a Mobile Application in the Field of Behavioral Sciences.”

In the energy field, students Nour El-Din Shaaban and Ibram Weddi, from Sharqia STEM School, also won two scholarships from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals and from the University of Arizona, for the their green transport project “Reducing Energy Consumption and Harnessing Wind Power in Vehicles.”

Moreover, students Mohamed Hamada and Youssef Hassan, from Qalyubiyya STEM School, won second place in the field of embedded systems, for their “Talking Gloves” project.

It is worth mentioning that Regeneron ISEF is the ultimate international competition in the field of science, at the pre-university level. It grants more than 1700 students around the world the opportunity to gather, share ideas, and showcase advanced scientific projects, in addition to competing for academic scholarships and scientific trips. The competition also allows students to meet and discuss their projects with international scientists and Nobel Prize laureates.

In this respects, the PSC commends the constructive role of its success partners: the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), for their significant contribution to the organization of the BA Science and Engineering Fair (BASEF), which led to the achievement of these outstanding results.
