Prof. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and Dr. Ali Bin Tamim, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center, signed a cooperation protocol between both entities, in the presence of Mr. Abdul Rahman Al-Naqbi, Head of the Literary Awards Department at the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center; Dr. Berlant Qabeel, Head of the Programs Section at the Center; Mr. Muhammad Abu Zeid, Advisor to the Office of the Center’s Chairman; Mr. Fahd Al-Munajed, the Center's Head of the Marketing Research Unit; and Mr. Ibrahim Al-Marzouqi, the Center's Chief of Staff. The ceremony was also attended by senior officials from the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.

Dr. Zayed said that the Library has strong and deep cultural relations with several institutions, and the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center is at the top of these institutions due to its holistic vision that comprises renewed initiatives and multiple annual events and awards such as the Sheikh Zayed Award, among others.

After the signing ceremony, a cultural meeting entitled "Towards an Arabic Bestseller List" was held, consisting of two sessions. The first session saw Dr. Zayed giving the opening speech and discussing how the habit of reading is developed and affected by the social context. This topic was followed by Dr. Tamim bin Ali’s discussion of the applications of artificial intelligence, as he stressed the need to launch a list of bestsellers with a specific set of criteria.

In the second session, the attendees were divided into four "working groups" that produced a number of recommendations, including the need to support creative industries, encourage authors, develop indicators for publishing houses, eliminate book piracy, etc.
