A 2-day video mapping show; 3D projection combined with sound and lighting effects, on Ancient Alexandria projected on the wall of the BA Conference Center building. The theme of the projection is the history of Alexandria from its establishment till the end of the Classical Period, with special focus on the main attractions sites of the city and its historical milestones. Augmented Reality means overlaying virtual digital elements on reality. It refers to the innovative multimedia techniques that make reality interact with digital constructions and reconstructions, thus modifying, enhancing and enriching the perceived world. It includes interactive projections, lighting techniques, virtual architecture and communication and audiovisual instruments. Its applications are numerous, ranging from overlapping virtual components onto reality (geo-localization and referencing, logical and physical mapping) to simulation of virtual reality elements and artistic applications through performances, video projections and installations. The event is part of the International Augmented Med (I AM) project, an international cooperation project involving 14 partner organizations from 7 Mediterranean countries, and is funded by the European Union’s ENPI CBC MED Programme.
