The Bibliotheca Alexandrina launched this morning the second edition of the Artificial Intelligence Conference, under the theme “Unleashing Innovation”, which was organized by the Library’s Development of Information Skills Section, in cooperation with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), from 2 – 3 December 2024, in the BACC Great Hall.
Prof. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina; Prof. Yasser El-Sonbaty, Vice President of the Arab Academy for Science and Technology for Education and Student Affairs; and Dr. Yousry El-Gamal, former Minister of Education, inaugurated a fair held on the sidelines of the conference, which presented the Library's professional diplomas and electronic reference services. The Library's guide for drafting reference citations was also outlined, which is the first of its kind in the region and seeks to standardize the best practices in the field of reference documentation in line with the requirements of the digital age.
The fair also featured graduation projects by AASTMT students on artificial intelligence, including a number of robots dedicated to removing radioactive waste from nuclear reactors, robots to help students in research, and a remote-controlled submarine, which explores wells, repairs ships, and detects underwater gas leaks.
At the end of the opening session, Dr. Zayed presented the BA Shield to the Academy in recognition of the role it plays and its continuous fruitful collaboration with the Library.
