Salah Eissa’s 92,000 Documents Made Available on the “Memory of Modern Egypt” Website

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina held two sessions on the sidelines of the seminar "Salah Eissa’s Documents”, in conjunction with the launch of the project digitizing the late writer's documents on the “Memory of Modern Egypt” website, in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and journalist Ms. Amina Al-Naqqash, Eissa's wife.

The first session was entitled "Presenting Salah Eissa's Documents on the Memory of Egypt Website", delivered by Mr. Ahmed Hassan, a BA Documentation Specialist, and Eng. Peter Soccar. It was moderated by Dr. Ahmed Samir, Head of the BA ICT Sector.

Mr. Ahmed Hassan said that the Library has received more than 92,000 documents featuring the most important cases in Egypt on Islamic groups and the communist movement, the most significant political assassinations, investigation records of prominent political and cultural figures, and what was published in newspapers about communist organizations and extremist jihadist organizations, as well as other social issues such as the case of Raya and Sakina.

The second session was entitled “Salah Eissa… A Unique Intellectual Figure”, conducted by Farid Zahran, President of the Egyptian Publishers Association; Dr. Ahmed Zakaria Al-Shalak, Professor of Modern and Contemporary History; and journalists Maysa Zaki and Iman Raslan. It was moderated by journalist Sayed Mahmoud.
