The BA Women Studies and Social Transformation Program, in collaboration with the National Council for Women, is organizing a seminar entitled “Treating Social Media Addiction and Its Psychological Impact on the Family” on Tuesday, 28 October 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., in the Conference Center’s Delegates Hall.
The seminar will be delivered by Dr. Mona Taman, lecturer and international consultant in information technology and artificial intelligence applications; and Dr. Hajar Marei, family relations expert, mental health consultant, and lecturer at the National Training Academy.
The seminar addresses the psychological and social effects of excessive use of social media and how this use can lead to what is known as digital addiction, which has become one of the contemporary challenges facing families amidst rapid technological development. It also highlights the differences between healthy and addictive use of modern technologies, as well as the psychological and social factors behind this behavior.
The seminar focuses on a number of topics, including understanding and diagnosing digital addiction, recognizing its psychological, physical, and family effects, and providing practical strategies for treatment and change, such as time management, setting limits on use, and raising awareness of the technologies that stimulate addiction in app design. It also addresses the importance of family and psychological support in reducing dependence on digital media, and encourages an environment that promotes healthy separation from screens and the positive and conscious use of technology for learning and self-development.
