As part of its ongoing efforts to support digital transformation and spread the culture of digitization, the BA Digital Lab (ICT Sector) organized a workshop entitled “The Basics of Document and Image Digitization” on 5 and 6 November 2025, at the Library’s Khadija Palace in Helwan.

Four of the Library's staff members specializing in digitization delivered the workshop, which was attended by 25 trainees interested in digitization and its applications in their various fields. The workshop was held over two consecutive days and included presentations and practical training on the latest specialized digitization equipment and software. It concluded with the participants receiving certificates accredited by the BA in recognition of their active participation.

The workshop covered the stages of digitization of images and documents, starting with the scanning process, through image processing using Photoshop, to optical character recognition (OCR) to convert images and manuscripts into searchable and editable digital texts.

It is part of the BA’s ongoing efforts to spread digital knowledge and enhance national capacities in the areas of digital transformation and electronic preservation of cultural heritage, thereby contributing to Egypt's endeavors towards a sustainable digital future.
