Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and Dr. Mahmoud Ezzat, Director of its Center for Strategic Studies, took part in the opening of the Seventh Derasat Forum, which is organized and hosted by the Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies "Derasat" in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The forum was inaugurated by the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ambassador Dr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit; Dr. Sheikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa; Minister of Transportation and Communications of the Kingdom of Bahrain and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies "Derasat"; and Dr. Abdullah Mohammed Al-Ahmad; CEO of Derasat.

In his speech at the opening of the forum, Dr. Ahmed Zayed stressed the importance of the seventh Derasat forum, which has become a central Arab platform for strategic dialogue, the production of applied knowledge, and the strengthening of institutional capacities in the areas of public policy and sustainable development.

In this high-level Arab forum, Dr. Zayed and Dr. Abdulaziz bin Saqr, Chairman of the Gulf Research Center in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, announced in their speeches the launch of a qualitative strategic initiative, namely the "Arab Research Centers Consortium," in a cooperation between the BA Center for Strategic Studies and the Gulf Research Center. This comes as part of the memorandum of understanding for cultural cooperation signed between the two parties, with the participation of a group of Arab think tanks.

This consortium will work to achieve a set of pivotal objectives, including enhancing coordination between Arab research centers, establishing a common knowledge environment, and launching unified Arab research databases that enhance information exchange and support decision-makers. It will also organize capacity development programs to build a new generation of Arab researchers capable of employing modern technology, as well as launch publishing platforms and joint periodic conferences that advance research content, improve the quality of analysis, promote the culture of foresight and innovation, and link it directly to the sustainable development agenda in Arab countries.
